Although the San Joaquin County Bar Association no longer maintains a lawyer referral service, they do provide links to other resources to find an attorney and related advice.
State Bar of California
The State Bar of California is an excellent resource for questions relating to attorney representation. If you have a legal issue outside of San Joaquin County, the State Bar of California Lawyer Referral Service provides the contact information for the Bar Associations, in California, nearest to you.
American Bar Association
The American Bar Association is another excellent resource for questions relating to attorney representation, and for finding an attorney outside of California. You can do this by using the American Bar Association Lawyer Referral Directory.
Capital Pro Bono
Capital Pro Bono is a Sacramento-based service that helps low income residents of Northern California with their civil legal problems. Cases are limited to debt, bankruptcy, employment and expungement.
California Rural Legal Assistance (CRLA)
CRLA is a nonprofit law firm founded in 1966 to provide free civil legal services to low-income residents of California’s rural counties. Assistance includes civil legal problems, employment/housing discrimination, landlord/tenant disputes, social security problems, and civil rights.
El Concilio
El Concilio is a non-profit community based organization offering a variety of services across eight departments to high-risk youth, infants, families, and adults representing, primarily, the Hispanic population of the Central Valley. Legal services for immigration issues and legal assistance to seniors, including help on housing issues, such as eviction.
Upsolve – Free Bankruptcy Help
Upsolve is a non-profit organization that offers bankruptcy information and assistance to low-income members of the public.
